Peterle

£52.50

The Peterle is a 26 inch long pond yacht with a displacement of 2lb 10oz, it was designed to be built by German schoolchildren in their handiwork class. The hull form is a simple box made from ply and hardwood strips that is built upside down on a jig. The hull and deck are planked with obechi, the result is very attractive and surprisingly efficient when sailing. The main ply frames are supplied laser cut but other parts have to be cut manually by fretsaw. Bearing in mind the design was intended for schools, construction is straightforward but does require a fair degree of woodworking skill and tools. Cast lead ballast, spars, sail, rigging materials and fittings are included. Spars, sails and some fittings are not pre-shaped and have to be made from basic materials. Simple RC rudder control can be fitted but the Peterle is equally at home as a free sailer.
